 PRO PRICARE practice networks

The research-based practice network „Forschungspraxen Franken“ consists of four practice networks located in rural and urban areas around Erlangen. The practice networks are:

International scientific advisors:

  • Dr. Iona Heath (London) - Dr. Heath is working since more than 30 years as family doctor in Great Britain. She was President of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Great Britain from 2009 to 2012 and is Editorial Advisor at the British Medical Journal (BMJ).
  • Prof. Dr. Jan de Maeseneer (Ghent) - Prof. De Maeseneer is Prof. Emeritus at the Department of Family Medicine of the University of Ghent in Belgium.
  • Prof. Dr. An De Sutter (Ghent) - Prof. De Sutter is Head of the Centre for Family Medicine at the University of Ghent and practicing family doctor in Belgium.
  • Prof. Dr. Gerold Stucki (Luzern) - Prof. Stucki is Professor and Chair of the Seminar of Health Sciences and Health Policy at the University of Luzern in Switzerland.
  • Prof. Dr. Jan Brodersen (Kopenhagen) - Prof. Brodersen is Docter for family medicin and psychometrics and is working as professor in medical screening at the University of Copenhagen at the Chair for Health Care Research and General Practice.

Both of the following partners committed themselves to provide routine data:

  • GWQ ServicePlus AG. Founded and owned by a group of medium-sized health insurance companies. GWQ is responsible for negotiation and evaluation of selective care contracts and agreements as well as for potential analysis of different forms of health care provisions. Has an extensive data-warehouse and highly specialized analytics working with modern tools for analysis and data mining. The ranges of services include evaluation of selective care contracts, potential analysis for innovative care concepts and also to answer questions related to characteristics of regions or patients.
  • Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVB) is a statutory body under public law. It is one of the healthcare system’s self-administration bodies. The KVB ensures that about 10 million compulsory and voluntary statutory health insurance members in Bavaria can consult a physician/psychotherapist of their own. The KVB represents about 24.000 doctors and psychotherapists. Health services research and evaluation of health care is an important issue. There are intensive cooperation with universities and research institutions.
