The Institute of General Practice was founded in October 2013 as the first ordinary Chair of General Practice in Bavaria. As an academic institute, it offers scientific expertise in the field of health service research and medical didactics. Our vision is to establish a strong primary care based on the principles of a transparent, cost-effective and patient-oriented medicine. We want general practice to become an attractive professional field for young medical doctors.
The current team working at the Institute of General Practice is responsible for research and teaching and consists of four researchers (three medical doctors and one psychologist), one study nurse, three research associates and two team assistants.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. T. Kühlein is known as an international expert in the field of quaternary prevention and classification of diseases in primary care. As representative of WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors) he was appointed to the advisory board of the “WHO-Family of International Classifications” (WHO-FIC) of the World Health Organization. Prof. Dr. T. Kühlein is president of the WONCA International Classification Committee (WICC) and deputy speaker of the DEGAM-section Health Service Research.
