Our integrated program to support young scientists is an essential component of the PRO PRICARE research network. It pursues the following targets:
The program is addressing mainly the young scientists within the network working on their doctoral thesis. The participants are from different institutes and research centres of the University Hospital and the University of Erlangen. They have a diverse research background ranging from sports science, sociology, general practice, psychology, health care management and economics. The young scientists receive methodological and technical training in interdisciplinary topics in the area of health care research. At present, eight young scientists participate in the program.
Within the program, each of the participating young scientists is appointed a senior scientist acting as a mentor. During regular meetings with the mentors various topics like career opportunities and strategies, and formal and content related aspects of the thesis will be discussed. Additional feedback and technical input will be provided through annual meetings of the external scientific board and the young scientists.
Since October 2017 a number of research seminars took place and are planned to be carried out until the end of the project. The participants are encouraged to present and discuss their ongoing research work. The senior scientists of the PRO PRICARE Network provide in-depth methodological and theoretical input and feedback in areas like health economics, public health research, geriatric research, psychology and general practice in the field of health care research, overtreatment and demographic change. Additional topics have been or will be project management, scientific writing or publication strategies. Also representatives of the PRO PRICARE research practice networks and health insurance providers KVB and GWQ will be invited to discuss issues of how to practically use the research results generated by the project.
